13 Cozy Living Room Ideas To Get Inspired By

Best Living Room Decor

Let’s look into some of the best living room decor ideas that are not only cozy but also comfortable.

With the changes happening around  the globe, many of us want to come home and get a good snuggle. Isn’t it?

A hot cup of matcha or a cold coffee… anything that makes you and me feel comfortable, snuggly and restful.

Now back to our conversation.

Tips To Creating An Inviting Living Room

Plush Textures:

Textures are a significant part of any decor. Adding plush textures like chunky knits, faux fur, or even velvets gives your living room that extra feel of cozy ambiance. I like to add extra soft throw blankets and pillows. Or you could even opt for a velvet sofa or have a shaggy rug making the room feel extra welcoming.

Warm Color Palettes:

Ever tried to include warm and earthy colors in your living room? You can try shades like deep blues, muted pinks or even terracotta. Or even you can go for forest greens. You can as well try painting an accent wall, add some colorful throw pillows or include a cozy furniture upholstery. You can even add warm colored rugs to infuse the warmth.

Natural Elements:

For me, I love to bring nature indoors. It is one of the timeless trends that never fails. You can try to add potted plants, stone accents or even try some faux plants (if you find maintenance a little overwhelming for you). These elements create a calming atmosphere within your space.

Minimalistic Design:

Ideally it’s best to keep your living room clutter free. The more items you store, the more it becomes cluttered. Having a minimal setup with minimalistic design principles, makes your living room more open and gives a sense of tranquillity.

Oversized Furniture:

Remember those days when in our grandparents house, there used to be oversized furniture? Yes, that same furniture is making a comeback again this year. You can have a cushioned armchair or a large sectional sofa which will create a relaxing and lounging space.

More Tips On How To Decorate Your Living Room

1. Try Grey and White Aesthetic

You can choose a very aesthetic approach by trying a combination of greys and whites. A very sophisticated look that is appealing and doed not make it look odd.

Oh, you can add some cozy blankets, and some mood lighting too. And if you want, you can even add art pieces to personalise the space.

2. Add Greens For That Fresh Vibe

Bringing nature within your living room is a great way to add that freshness and positivity.

You can incorporate wood accents with gorgeous greenery. Or hang a shelf above your window and add those gorgeous green plants. You can go for hanging vines or have a hanging planter at the corner of the room.

This brings such a fresh and cozy perspective to a living room.

3. Add Floating Shelves

A perfect way to add some space in the living room. It does not look cluttered and makes the room more open.

You can either have family portraits or have your favourite books on the floating shelves.

Or you can accessorise with candles, flower vases or even house plants in a terracotta pot.

4. Bring A Bold Accent With Wooden Furniture

Wooden furniture with its dark tones brings in a sense of warmth and character to the spaces. From rich walnut flooring to honey oaked colors, wooden furniture will always be a timeless beauty.

You can pair your beige sofa with a dark wooden centre table. Or if you have a dark coloured sofa, you can pair it with a lighter color wooden table. Add to it a flower vase with contrasting flowers and you have created a perfect balance while staying subtle.

5. Minimalism With Black and White

Minimalism will never go out of style. It is not just an aesthetic feel but more of a lifestyle approach and a form of art.

And when you want to adopt this approach, you can as well choose something like blacks and whites in your space.

Black and white spaces have a fine line between chic and sterile. For a touch of luxury and visual interest, you can incorporate gold accents adding the warmth and design.

6. Rustic Fireplace

Having a little rustic touch in the living room brings in a fun vibe. Having trinkets and plants over the fireplace makes the room more enticing.

And if you have few dark accents, this sort of arrangement will create a warmer tone.

7. Add Bright Colors

Not saying that simple living rooms or in fact any rooms are not gorgeous, but having a bit of color never hurts.

Adding vibrant hues like orange, yellow or green tones adds a totally different character. I feel like bold colors when added, makes any place feel special. Don’t you think so?

8. Leather and Elegant Touches

Ever thought of adding leather stools or terracotta pillows? Yes they add a fun pop of color to the room and look different too.

9. Blue and Grey Touches

I have spoken about different color combinations until now, but how could I forget the blue and grey combination.

Sounds a little outlandish but it definitely brings a calming effect to any home. You can as well add a mirror or some family pictures to give that attention grabbing look.

10. Luxury Feel with Candles

The general diffused light from the burning candles livens up the atmosphere. Having a candle as a centrepiece has its own significance.

There is a soft mood, a serene environment, a tranquility felt in the surroundings.

Paired with a beautiful flower vase and some wooden decor pieces, a candle gives a cuddling and relaxing mood feeling.

11. Create Warm Earthy Feel with Terracotta

If you are a plant parent or a boho lover, then having a terracotta touch will create the beauty you’ve been looking for.

You can go with a rust cushion, a burnt orange shade sofa and a white potted plant at the corner of the living room. Go for a mix of white and rust colored throw pillows for the sofa.

Terracotta, when mixed with neutral colors like white, beige, grey, or cream, highlights the elegance of the room.

12. Lighter, Brighter Space with Mirrors

Want more fun in your living room?

Let’s add a mirror.

You can add a floor length mirror, a tiled mirror on your wall or you can even go for an irregular asymmetrical wall mirror.

Mirrors not only add the fun element but also adds a classiness to the room.

Regardless of its shape or size, having a mirror makes your space look more open, brighter and bigger too (perfect solution for smaller spaces).

13. Accessorise with Elegant and Neutral Look

Want to define a certain section of the room? Then add a round knitted pouf.

This acts as a decor piece or a statement piece in your living room. Coupled with a centre table and a flower vase, creates a cute and stunning decor piece.

You can either add a large faux fur rug or a textured rug to fill up the space on the ground.

Simplicity Wins

If you want to only keep things simple, you can just add a simple rug, centre table and a small poof.

On the centre table, keep a tray which has candles and a flower vase. Now you can go for real flowers or even faux ones. Choice is yours.

And also you can add throw pillows on your couch. This would give that extra touch of sophistication without making it look overcrowded.

Whether you prefer simple tones, or warmer color palettes, I am sure these ideas will help you unwind you and relax after a long and tiring day.
